  • Leave me a scenario (one of your own or choose from here) and include any particular preferences as well if you wish.
  • Or, if you want to just leave a comment with a picture or a word as a prompt and suggest which muse of mine you want, that works too! I might just be a bit slow with those.
  • Make a reply asking for anyone here on the subject title.
  • If you choose a character on the maybe list, I will definitely be slow with them.
  • If you know a specific "verse" of character you want, specify. If it's a cross-canon scene and you don't specify, you might get a CR AU.

  • Alternately, if you'd rather place a comment on the muse's contact post. Or if you want to do something a little more privately, let me know and I'll set something up elsewhere.
  • Go to the RNG if you don't have a specific scenario in mind.
  • Have fun!

Hawke's first thought was that this wasn't Adamant Fortress. For a while after she stepped out of that cloud -- the Fade or something else? -- she just held onto that thought. Her mind was drawing a blank for a lot of things she thought she should know, like the details of where she just was. Part of her thought that was her coping mechanism. Her life wasn't much of a great show at any rate.

As time went on, she began to sense that there was more to this than she had first thought. After asking for directions to the nearest city, she was told she was in a place called Australia. Most people were kind enough to try to help her and they tried to get her to stay in the city -- Sydney? -- but she refused. Most of the four months she has spent in Australia have been in the wilds. Electricity? If that's even what it is. That's scary to her and she isn't yet convinced that this isn't a trick of the Fade or that there aren't mages responsible for the electricity stuff.

She may or may not also have left a trail of spiders in her wake. Granted, she's glad these aren't anywhere near as big as the ones in Thedas. They're still spiders and they're still large enough to hit with Winter's Grasp.

For the last month or so, she has also been fighting wildfires and wildlife and whatever else needs to be done and doing a fairly good job of it when she can manage Winter's Grasp. This time, though, she dives in to save someone, pulling the woman away from the burning hillside and focusing first on healing her.

"You're going to be fine," she says, stepping between her charge and the fire. What she wouldn't do for a friend right about now.

Malina always finds a way to be sent after the creature feature of the week. She doesn't know how she got this position exactly, but it's hers and she's here to set all of these freaking spiders on fire. Or electrocuting them. We'll see what happens.

However, also true to Malina's mission life, fighting with spiders leaves her almost dead. She is ready to hobble her way with Kali back to the car when the mage they were fighting with starts healing her and she can't help but brighten with a grateful smile.

    "Thank you."

At least this woman isn't yelling at her for being a mage. That's still taking Hawke time to get used to. It's one of her strongest memories: people fearing mages and being partially glad that her sister Bethany never had to worry about being carted off and locked up in the Gallows once they got to Kirkwall.

"Well, that got a little heated," Hawke quips, frowning as she casts Winter's Grasp on what little is left of the fire to put it out. "You're--" she begins, ready to offer something else to one of the women who have been helping her so far.

Except that's another spider coming their way. Hawke huffs at it, casting Fist of the Maker to literally crush it against the ground for a few seconds. "Why is it always spiders? Why can't it be a giant centipede someday?"

Kali is still eviscerating the spiders left and right because she's a happy little killing machine, so Malina can take the time to appreciate Hawke's pun-y commentary for herself as well as commiserate at the unfortunate inclusion of spiders.

"Oh, don't wish for centipedes. Centipedes are worse."

    [personal profile] hawkeing 2016-02-19 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Kali is pretty impressive and, hey, if there's someone around who's willing to murder spiders on her behalf, Hawke is perfectly happy to let her do it. Hawke's eyebrows rise a little at Malina's assertion.

"Is it all the legs? I bet it's the legs." Or the eyes. Or the way they drop from literally nowhere. Do they do that here? She hopes not.

"What about dragons? On a scale from giant to centipede, where spiders are the midway point, where would you stick a dragon?"

She lets out a slow breath as she considers that before giving a small shrug. "It depends on the kind of dragon. Your metallics are usually pretty peaceful. They don't bother anybody if you don't bother them. Chromatics are a little more dicey, so it would also depend on the age. Baby chromatics? That I can handle. When they're in their cranky teenage years? If I had an army behind me, they're somewhere with spiders."

There's a pause. "If we're taking an ancient chromatic dragon with nothing better to do than destroy a city? I'd take cover before I tried to take one on head-on."

Hawke raises an eyebrow. "Oh, so colors matter? I thought it was all dragonscale." Okay, not really funny. Moving on.

After she shades her eyes to be sure there aren't any dragons nearby wanting to make a meal of them. "I'm guessing a high dragon isn't on your list." Her sense of dragonscale is so different it seems. "Though, now that I've asked, I think I'd better get moving or one might decide to swoop down. Once your friend's done cleaning up, were you heading back to the city?"

"My name is Kali!" she chirps from where she is still pummeling the last spider with reckless abandon, a little bit like she has to stress to get out and the spider is better then a stress ball. The dying spider.

She has very good hearing and she thought she'd introduce herself. She can multitask. "In case you were wondering!"

"We were heading out of the country, actually," Malina says with a nod as Kali finishes up that last spider. "Kali and I work for an international aide organization. Once we're finished up here, we're heading back to HQ."

There's a beat as she considers her for a moment, before tipping her head to the side. "You know, if you want to get out of the outback, we could always use magical skills like yours."

"Nice to meet you, Kali," Hawke offers, watching Kali take out the spider in increasingly impressive ways. "Both of you." Just in case the other was feeling left out.

That's an interesting proposition. Hawke considers. She wouldn't mind living among actual people, but if she has to deal with electricity and all that craziness...

"Which one of you gets to teach me all about electricity?" she asks. "It's a little too shocking for my tastes."

Maker preserve them all. Someone get her to stop.

Malina laughs a bit at that, before nodding her agreement. "We can explain it to you on the plane." Oh, is she going to have to explain planes too? They can save that for the drive back to the airfield. It's probably going to be a much longer conversation than electricity.
    hawkeing: ({ 009)

    [personal profile] hawkeing 2016-03-05 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Without missing a beat, Hawke shrugs. "That depends. Is 'plane' the new term for a shape-shifted dragon?" Yes, she's actually serious about that. Everything needs an explanation for Hawke. Except cars. She managed to see those in the city and she still doesn't know how she feels about them.
    bredinthebone: (Default)

    [personal profile] bredinthebone 2016-03-05 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not exactly, no. A plane is a bit like a car, but it flies instead of drives. It's very safe. Plus, it's private so you're not crowded by a whole ton of people."

It's not as though they're flying coach or she probably wouldn't have recommended it.

Kali bounces over, straightening her bangs and wiping spider blood and goo on her shorts. Her pony tail swishes back and forth cheerfully, matching the friendly grin splashed across her expression.

"That was fun. I feel very relaxed now." A beat. "And you're far more likely to die from a venomous bite or a legal execution than die in a plane crash. They're incredibly rare."
    hawkeing: ({ 002)

    [personal profile] hawkeing 2016-03-08 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Your own private dragon flight," Hawke muses, aware that her host has just said that a plane isn't a dragon. She shrugs. "On the plus side, if it goes down, we're all going down together. Though, I'll take my chances with the professional spider-murderer."

She flashes Kali a smirk. Kali is her new favorite for killing spiders for her.

"All right. I'm in." For once, Hawke will do the following rather than the leading.

"Excellent," Malina says with a grin. "Let's get the hell out of here. I've already spent way too much time in the desert." She is ready to go home and clean the spider guts out of her hair. It's said how that phrase comes to mind all too easily.

Someone should really stop her someday.

"Lead on, oh fearless ones. I need to see how much complaining about modern technology I get to do on the way over." The answer is a lot.

    "Indoor plumbing is wonderful."

    [personal profile] bredinthebone 2016-03-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I have to agree with Kali on that one." Kali, that picture better not wind up on the Knights Instagram. "Indoor plumbing trumps pretty much everything else. In fact, my best friend is a giant hippie, and he'd still agree with me about indoor plumbing."

She'd hope. If he doesn't, Gus, she's disowning you.
    hawkeing: ({ 006)

    [personal profile] hawkeing 2016-03-17 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hawke's eyebrows rise. "That certainly was illuminating," she quips. "I won't argue about the indoor plumbing, but when you come from a place where the only light comes from torches or a lightning-based spell, you tend to be a little wary of the way some things work."

Last time someone changed something, a chantry blew up and killed countless innocent people in the name of vengeance. Before that, Tevinter magisters blackened something that wasn't theirs, created the darkspawn, and gave them the Blights. Forgive her if she isn't 100% sold on everything yet.

"Or whoever put this into place could be hiding mages. Anything is possible."

Hawke might not remember all of her life, but she does remember the truly terrible pieces. Her life is not pretty so she doesn't expect this to be pretty, either.

"Well, don't worry. We don't hide our mages. We like to keep them out in the open where they can be scary and intimidating."

Or patient and healing in the terms of the clerics.

    [personal profile] hawkeing 2016-03-29 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Something in the way she says it has Hawke's eyes narrowing slightly. Suspiciously almost. "Is that so the general population will hate them more or because they really don't like being locked up and can't be contained?"

At least she... isn't mentioning Tranquil yet? Really she just wants to know what she's in for. How many people are going to fear her just for what she is? And is she in any actual danger of being locked up in a place like a Circle or the Kirkwall Gallows?

The first person who tells her there's someone like Knight-Commander Meredith here is getting a fireball to the face.

Malina snorts. "Sweetie, if they tried to lock me up I would have set them on fire." And that's putting it lightly. "I'm no one's prisoner. People aren't exactly happy that we exist, but we've learned to live with it."

    [personal profile] hawkeing 2016-04-02 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
"That means there are no Circles or templars that can nullify magic?"

Just checking. Because that is a pretty important distinction to make. She gets that the rules are different here but really she has to make sure.

She shakes her head. "I have never heard of either of those things. And naturally, we want people to be safe with their magic, but we're more of a learn and grow situation than restrict and restrain."
