Leave me a scenario (one of your own or choose from here) and include any particular preferences as well if you wish.
Or, if you want to just leave a comment with a picture or a word as a prompt and suggest which muse of mine you want, that works too! I might just be a bit slow with those.
Make a reply asking for anyone here on the subject title.
If you choose a character on the maybe list, I will definitely be slow with them.
If you know a specific "verse" of character you want, specify. If it's a cross-canon scene and you don't specify, you might get a CR AU.
Alternately, if you'd rather place a comment on the muse's contact post. Or if you want to do something a little more privately, let me know and I'll set something up elsewhere.
Go to the RNG if you don't have a specific scenario in mind.
"I was really liking not having to worry about someone treating me like all I am is my title," Alaina replies, looking slightly disappointed that he's going back to that. "I'm not royalty and I never want to be. Especially in Orlais. You couldn't pay me enough to be Orlesian royalty."
Just playing the Game at court once had been enough. To have to make a life of it? Maker, no. Anything but that.
"I'm just nobility. A noble title. That's all. I don't want to be known just by that. I'm not my family. Just be yourself and I'm sure we'll get along."
Arthur blinked for a moment in confusion as he tilted his head. Was royalty life really so bad? He’s never been himself nor had he ever been invited anywhere where they were present. He was always too young to accompany his parents when they were still alive as well, if they ever had to meet with one. So a lot of it went over his head. Arthur drew himself a little closer toward the ground so she can see his eyes better as he spoke, “Oh… I’m sorry, I didn’t realize royal life isn’t so good after all…”
Looking toward the ground, admittedly feeling very naïve about the subject made him feel a little bad for bringing it up. “I-I’ve never been very good at knowing about that sort of thing, never had to,” he gave a weak smile back toward her, “But if it’s all the same I’d rather treat you just as you are as well.”
Some people revel in it, some enjoy playing the Game. Alaina will never understand why Leliana and Josephine like it so much, but she has to admit that they are good at it. She much prefers to let them play it while she runs around making sure no one gets hurt.
Ugh, Floriane.
"Some people like it," Alaina admits. "I'd say you're lucky not to know that life. In Orlais, the nobility play what they call the Great Game. No one says what they mean. Every little word is judged by the court and saying the wrong thing to the wrong person could get you killed later on. I'd rather just have a nice, open, upfront conversation and know who my adversary is. None of this choosing words and picking apart speeches crap. Maker's breath, it's a nightmare."
So please. Alaina would be so much happier to just have a friend, not a servant or whatever else.
"O-Oh…" Arthur frowned, was it really so fake? That's definitely not something he'd like, really he'd rather be honest on his actions or he'll feel a real deep guilt within him. The only time he'll let himself lie would be to protect someone, but he didn't have to do that for quite a long time. Arthur shook his head, "I wouldn't fit in for sure, if I had to live myself a lie I'd hate it too."
Rubbing the back of his neck, looking to the side, "But… Yet again, there hasn't been royalty amongst giants in quite a long time. Not my kind anyway, we're… Kind of a dying race."
Arthur bit his bottom lip softly, his heart sank that he brought up a sore subject so suddenly. Perhaps he should try and cover it, "U-Um, anyway, I'm glad you chose to stay out of it then, one must feel happy with what they do after all."
Alaina frowns as he begins to talk about his people. She doesn't like the sound of that. A dying race? "What happened to your people?" she asks, her voice twisted with concern. If he wanted to keep that a secret and away from the ears of someone who would use it to try to help them in any way possible, he probably shouldn't have told Alaina.
She'll return to the rest later. First thing's first.
Movements from the giant came to a soft pause as his breath grew quiet at Alaina's question. Looking down, brows furrowed already regretting even mentioning it. The subject itself sent such a cold drop within him from the horrid memories that would flash. But Arthur held himself slowly as he gently gazed back toward her with a little sigh. "We were… Hunted down, for our possessions and our bodies had healing properties that are… Beneficial to folks."
Arthur curled his lip, it was just too terrible to think about how some thieves would go so low as to use their bodies like that. He closed his eyes before looking away from her, "I was… A fool when I was young, I let a stranger in our home one time… A-And he…"
Holding his lips, as the flash of bloodshed of his family sent a cold and trembling shiver around him, Arthur winced his eyes shut and took a shuddered breath, "I-I wish not to speak any more of it."
"I'm sorry," Alaina says, her expression turning sadly sympathetic. "I didn't mean to bring up a sore subject."
But as she had asked, she has to offer something else in return. Maybe she can't help, but she wants to try. At least offering, giving him the opportunity to call on her is something.
"If anything like that ever happens again, if you and your people ever need help, I would be happy to come to your aid. No friend of mine will ever suffer if there is something I can do. The Inquisition fights to unify Thedas, but we also help those in need. We will help you if you need it."
Arthur shook his head in return to her sympathies, "You were only curious, it's alright."
A lot of the horrid things that rushed in his head died down as he started to get his bearings, thankfully he's trained himself over the years on how to deal with his episodes of stress. Then as Alaina went on, Arthur's brows raised curiously. Did she just offer help, as well as called him a friend? He hadn't many if any friends, there a shy blush that came to his cheek as he softly took in his breath, "O-Oh... Th-Thank you I-Y-You don't mind being friends with me? Really?"
Alaina is used to befriending unlikely types. This instance is really nothing out of the ordinary for her.
"I wouldn't have offered if I hadn't meant it," she tells him sincerely. "Friends help each other, right? You've already helped me. It's only fair that I help you."
A warmth came into Arthur's heart at that, he gave a small smile. He nodded as he gently held out his finger for her hand to shake. "Ofcourse... I-I'd be honored to be your friend, thank you. You can count on me for help any time for sure."
Alaina's lips curl upwards as she shakes his finger with both of her hands. "You've already done more than enough for me. But if I ever have another nightmare, you're welcome to work the same magic on it that you did tonight. I'll be sure to repay you."
Friends can be rare in Thedas. Alaina is happy to gain another one and another ally for the Inquisition.
"I should probably go back to bed before someone misses me. I'll see you again?"
Arthur nodded with a smile, he was just happy to have a friend. It was rare for a giant like him to even have one considering how intimidating his height can be for others. Then as she suggest that she should go back to go bed, "Oh yes ofcourse and-Ah here..."
Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small stone, or at least small for him decent hand size for Alaina, it was a unique shade of pink and different looking that most quartz that could be seen on earth. He held it out for her, "If you need me just hold it and say my name and your location I'll hear it. And if I need you, you'll hear me as well."
At this point, Alaina has seen so much worse than a little height. This guy seems pretty nice and that's all that really matters to her.
Surprised, she accepts the stone graciously, turning it over in her hands to look at. It's very smooth and she likes the feel of it. "I may have to carry a bag around for it," she jokes, though her smile is warm with gratitude. "Thank you. I'll be sure to keep it with me and call you if I need you."
Tucking the stone into a pocket of her armor, she moves towards him. It'll have to be kind of awkward given their size difference, but she can try anyway. What it ends up being is her trying to hug his hand. Points for trying?
"And thanks for your help with my nightmare. You've been a great friend already."
Arthur chuckled with her, funny how small things to him can still be big for human sized folks. He nodded as he gave a warm smile, holding out his finger to hold her hand in a friendly shake, "Oh it's no problem at all, I-I'm glad to be of service... Give me a call and I'll be there for you, my dear friend Alaina."
"I will. You take care now, Arthur," Alaina tells him firmly. With one last smile and a hand in her pocket to make sure the stone is safe, she turns to head back towards bed. Maybe this time she'll sleep better than she had previously.
