Odan may or may not be responsible for this. Maybe. He's not telling yet.

But he finds her in her office, as usual, where he may or may not have hung a sprig of the mistletoe plant this morning. He's done his research on Earth customs and despite it not actually being the perfect time of the year for this, he's taken it upon himself to try it anyway.

"Doctor Beverly?" he calls, smiling easily, as always when he sees her.

Yeah, he's totally not up to something. Nope.

At first, she looks up from her computer with a big smile when Odan speaks but then... she sees that grin on his face and squints suspiciously. What has he done now?

"I know that look. You're plotting something."

Odan's smile cannot be ignored or repressed. For a minute, he just smiles at her, unwilling to spoil the moment and enjoying that look of suspicion she's giving him. After that minute, he glances up at the ceiling.

"Why would you believe that I'm plotting something?" he asks innocently.

She points an accusatory finger at him. "Because you usually are." Then she follows his gaze upwards.

Odan. You ridiculous delightful man, is that mistletoe?

"It's not Christmas yet you know."

It is indeed, to no one's surprise. He grins finally as she glances up at the ceiling.

"It's close," he protests, though it's hardly a protest. "What was the term? 'Tis the season." She can't say no, can she? They might be in the middle of sickbay, but that's no reason not to. "I thought it might be fun to get into the spirit of the season, Doctor Beverly."

She won't let him off quite that easy, not without a little more teasing.

"And what if someone else had gotten in here before you, hmm?"

"I was very careful to time it just right, Doctor Beverly," Odan says smoothly. The truth is that he probably would have laughed and been a little jealous on the inside. As long as he won't lose her to another's kiss, he doesn't really care. "What do you say now?"

Little chance of that. He's firmly captured her heart. Beverly stands, leaning over her desk towards him, but not quite in kissing distance, not yet. "Oh and here Dr. Selar will be so disappointed."

"Doctor Selar missed an opportunity," Odan replies. Several opportunities. Actually, everyone missed the opportunity to sweep Doctor Beverly off her feet, as Odan continues to do with every chance he gets. Reaching for her arm, which is in kissing distance, he pulls her towards him and presses his lips to her wrist, keeping his eyes firmly on hers.

What now, Doctor Beverly?

Stars, that never fails to make her melt, even after all this time. But she resists, leaning the rest of the way in to murmur just two words in his ear, "No fair," before taking her hand away and stepping back once more, the desk a barrier between them. Despite her admonishing words, there's a smile on her face, a challenge.

Again, she's not going to let him off so easy this time.

Odan chuckles softly, but deeply. He does so love playing like this with her.

"I thought that was perfectly fair," he responds with a grin of amusement on his face. "I wasn't planning on letting that be the only thing, but it was a kiss."

And a kiss is a kiss, right?

Ha. Well, he moves closer, until he's standing next to the desk. Not quite within kissing range, no, but close. Very close.

"Perhaps I should place mistletoe everywhere if this is what I get from it."

And oh how much does she love the game as well. They always know how it will end, who will win, but it doesn't make it any less exciting.

"Are you trying to get me fired, Ambassador?" His title comes out as almost a purr.

"I would never," he insists with a grin, moving just a little closer until he lowers his voice to continue. "The only thing I'm trying to do is make you smile, Doctor Beverly."

As over the top and sappy as he always is. The kiss will come soon. He just has to be his lovey self first.

"Oh, that's the only thing you're after, huh?" Raised eyebrow of skepticism here.

"Making you smile, making you laugh," he continues, turning the sap and passion up to level 15. "I want you to feel like the most special person in the entire galaxy, because you are. You always will be, Doctor Beverly, and I love you very much."

With that, he lifts a hand to cup her cheek before he leans in to kiss her.

"You're incorrigible," she admonishes with a low, soft laugh. Then her lips are pressed against his in a kiss that lingers much longer than it has any right to, given where they are.
