He figures it's long overdue they spend a little time alone, away from the crazy life in Zelien, and the crazy people they're trapped with here. ]
Did you grab breakfast yet? I think I'm gonna die if I don't get some coffee in the next 30 mins.
no subject
I was thinking of doing that right now. Think they have croissants to go with the coffee?
[ it's laughable. the question is the dumbest thing. but she's missed her morning coffee and croissants with jean-luc, so in the spirit of keeping things a little lighter than normal, she has to ask. ]
no subject
At least he'll have good company, though. That'll make breakfast a little more bearable. ]
Meet you the kitchens in 10.
no subject
Very true. In any case, I'll be right there.
[ and she will be. ten minutes isn't too long, but it's long enough for both of them to get there. once she arrives, she heads straight towards getting coffee set up, even if she has to make it herself. and as soon as she spots doctor mccoy, she smiles warmly, if a bit teasingly. ]
Good morning.

Ugh. He really should have got up a little earlier to shave — he looks awful. Hopefully Dr. Crusher won't mind. ]
Mornin'. [ He grumbles back, matching her cheery smile with a tired frown. Before he could say anything else, he makes a beeline for the cupboards, hoping there might be a box of dried cereal or oatmeal or something left on the shelves.
There wasn't. The man sighs. ] I'm gonna be stuck eatin' canned pears for the rest of my miserable life...
no subject
not that she's looking.
she's nice enough to let him get a cup of coffee in his system before she starts actively talking to him, though. she's got the coffee ready at least, holding out a cup for him with one of her own in her hand. coffee first.
croissantscanned pears later. ]It's better than some other options. [ like creamed corn. come on, creamed corn for breakfast would be the worst. she'll take the pears, thanks. ]
Come on, drink up. At least get a little coffee in your system before I start talking your ear off.

He turns away from the shelf, just as his lips begin to curl into a disdainful frown. A look goes from her to the coffee cup she's holding, and even though it doesn't get rid of the sour-faced look of his, it does perk up his posture a bit.
He takes the cup graciously from her, muttering a low thanks before taking a long sip. ]
I just saw you yesterday, I don't know how you could have that much to talk about. [ Not that he minds. He just pretends he does. ]
no subject
Well, I know we don't have the gossip train we would on a starship or even at Starfleet Medical, but I could always start talking about the frogs in the lab.
[ if there's one way to get him to grumble, it's mentioning the frogs. ]
Doop doop Teleios
He has his violin, he always does, and as soon as he sees her, smiles and walks over with a wave. ]
Ah, there you are.
:D
so when she spots him, a smile crosses her face in turn. ]
Hello, there. How are you today?
[ he's got his violin, but that seems to be as much a part of him as her medkit is a part of her. it's hanging by its strap from her shoulder, just as it always is. these things never leave their sides. ]
no subject
I cannot complain. It is a beautiful day, people seem content, there is a lot to be happy about. And how are you, my friend?
no subject
I'm all right. I haven't had a medical emergency in a while. I think it's been a good day. Do you have any plans for a day like today?
no subject
That is always a sign of a good day. As for myself, I was going to sit in the temple and play a little.
no subject
Anything in particular on your mind? And if you ask me to dance...
[ she lets the sentence trail off teasingly. for him and only for him, or perhaps cinna or carol, would she be willing to dance later. ]
no subject
[He casts her a sly smile, all the same. ]
But I would never turn down such a chance as to ask you to dance, my friend.
no subject
Not where everyone can see. That was a one-time deal.
[ well, if he twists her arm a little, she might be inclined to fake that she's learning. after all, her proper dance shoes aren't with her... that'll be her excuse. she does miss dancing, but that stupid nickname... she really doesn't want it cropping up again, ever. ]
no subject
[There's a light teasing to his tone, but he means it. Her company is the most important factor to him, here. ]
no subject
We could try the training gym or outside for a short period. Not many people venture to the front of the temple at this time of the year.
no subject
Then that sounds perfect. Shall we?
no subject
[ she doesn't really know what style she'll feel like dancing, but better to have her tap shoes and not need them. at least they're just inside her room. it won't take her long. ]
no subject
[And when she is ready, he'll be waiting outside for her, playing a little tune, as usual. ]
no subject
I suppose I'll have to dance alone? [ she teases warmly. ] Can't convince you to join me?
no subject
Oh no, you can always convince me to join you my dear friend. I would like nothing more.
[Gonna give a little bow, offering his hand. ]
no subject
Well, then, in that case, I'll follow your lead.
[ she can lead and follow perfectly. either role suits her. ]
So what have you been doing lately aside from playing your violin at every hour and now dancing with me?
no subject
The Queen does keep me rather busy. She plans a lot of events, and I need to be there to see them to fruition.
no subject
She does have a lot of ideas and I know you are very important to each of them. The masquerade was a wonderful event, but I know you must have had a lot to do. Were these events common where you're from?

We were throwing an ambassadorial party at home recently and it was... quite interesting. Our guest delegates ended up placing a headdress of beads on my captain's head. That I really wish I had a picture of.
