It's an old distraction for that it is a distraction; while there's a part of him that does want to do nothing but spend his time carefully prising out its secrets there's a larger part that has turned instead to the real scavenger hunt.
Which is not, of course, to say that there isn't a flash of anger in his eyes at the implication that she'd saved him for last, but it's mostly mollified by the implication that this is something that needs time; time that he's assuming the others didn't have.

There's a brief and expansive gesture in lieu of the rest of the sentence, a poor cover for the fact that he can't bring himself to directly mention the explosion and subsequent destruction of Old City Sanctuary.
